The Rotary Club of Luton North was formed in 1969 and was the second Rotary Club to be formed in the Luton area. Since then three more Clubs have been chartered locally.
The club is a registered charity (No.1036520) and is part of Rotary International, a service organisation, under whose banner clubs have been formed all over the world with the motto ‘Service above Self’. Since Charter in 1970 members of Luton North Rotary Club have been active supporting the local community, District Projects and the Internationalism of Rotary.
Membership throughout has been around 45 and whilst there has been a tendency to lean towards the professions, membership has covered a wide range of Classifications incorporating most aspects of life in Luton
Commitment, enthusiasm and close adherence to Rotary aims and objectives has been a strength and in recent years emphasis has been towards supporting youth through Mock Interviews, Technology Tournament, Youth Speaks, Life Education, and the Luton School's Football Association Competition. Over the years the Club has also been a prime mover in helping Rotaract, Interact, Youth Exchange, and Rotary Youth Leadership Awards.
The Rotary Club of Luton North meets most Tuesday lunchtimes at the Pavilion, Bowling Green Lane for fellowship, furtherance of its objectives, and of course a good old natter over lunch.
